Wyze's comparison page has a "Without a plan" column: motion and sound detection are included, cloud event recording is thumbnails only, and there is a 5-minute delay between recordings. Smart detections (person, pet, vehicle, package), rich notifications and Web View need a plan 1. Local recording does not: the Cam v4, Cam Pan v3 and Video Doorbell v2 take a microSD card 234, and Wyze says those three can keep recording to the card without Wi-Fi if recording was scheduled while online 5.
Wyze's US plans page lists Cam Plus at $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year for one camera (14-day cloud event history), Cam Unlimited at $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year for all cameras, and Cam Unlimited Pro at $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year with up to 60 days of history 6. The Cam Plus annual price rose from $19.99 to $29.99 for renewals on or after March 2, 2026; the monthly price stayed $2.99 7. When we checked on Nov 2, 2026, Wyze's older services-comparison page showed Cam Plus at $3.99 a month, which doesn't match its plans page or its own FAQ 16.
Do Wyze doorbells need a subscription?
No, the Video Doorbell v2 records to microSD without a plan. Wyze says that without a subscription its cloud events are 12-second clips for button presses (and unexpected microSD removal) and still images for other events. 48
Does Wyze Cam v4 need a subscription to record?
No. It records to a microSD card; Cam Plus adds AI detection and full-length cloud clips. 2
What does Cam Plus add?
14 days of cloud event video with no cooldown, person, pet, vehicle and package detection, sound detections like glass-break, and Web View. 61
Do I need a Wyze account?
Yes, Wyze cams are set up and viewed through the Wyze app and account. Wyze's privacy policy says it "sells" some personal information for advertising; see the Wyze brand page. 9
